Things then progress from a series of reports about odd atmospheric disturbances taking place on Mars, to the arrival of the Martians in the outskirts of London. At first the they seem rather harmless, hardly able to move in Earth’s heavier gravity, barely able to raise themselves out of the capsules they arrived in. Soon however the Martians reveal their true face of conquerors when death machines 100-feet tall rise up from beneath the ground and begin to lay waste to everything around them. Soon a complete evacuation of London follows, where the British forces suffer defeat after defeat. It doesn’t take long until all the resistance is crushed, leaving the survivors with one option only – to run and hide, while the Martians begin terror forming the Earth.
